The Salvation Army is an international Christian charitable organization providing a range of services to people in need, including aged care services, homelessness services, family & domestic violence, and ‘Salvos Stores’, among other services. Across Australia, there are over 330+ Salvation Army locations, ensuring widespread support & availability to vulnerable members of the community.
Brief
The team at Australian Security & Antennas has an extended history working with the Salvation Army across Victoria through a combination of installations and maintenance. We were approached by the Salvation Army to assist in implementing a complete security solution for their Abbotsford location. During consultation with the Salvation Army representative, the briefing we received was to ensure full CCTV surveillance across the entire premises. The presence of CCTV cameras is to act as a deterrent and allow recording to reduce theft and vandalism.
Following the briefing, our integration specialists recommended a security system with cameras installed at different areas of the premises to ensure full perimeter security monitoring. Considering the size of the premises and customer requirements, Australian Security installed the following cameras:
- 19 x 8MP (4K) Turret 2.8mm Cameras
- 9 x 8MP 2.7-12mm Starlight Turret Cameras
Throughout the premises, a total of 28 x Cameras were installed, in addition to a 32-channel Network Video Recorder and monitor, to allow monitoring and surveillance. All areas of the premises including entrances and boundaries are fully covered by CCTV surveillance.
Australian Security proposed two types of cameras – with the Starlight Turret Cameras providing high quality performance for low-light video performance.

Outcome
The objective of the new security system was to reduce inventory loss, discourage theft and monitor the premises with high quality surveillance, at all hours. Post-installation, the vendor is satisfied with the functionality of the system and reported positive developments in line with the original briefing requirements.
