The Prahran Market is one of Melbourne’s most famous food markets – featuring a diverse range of food and produce across different stores. With over 70 + stores open daily, Prahran Market welcomes visitors 5 days per week (including weekends) and attracts substantial foot traffic throughout the market premises.

Brief

Australian Security was approached by one of the traders within the market complex to implement a customized security system for their store. With an uptick in missing inventory, the vendor required an all-inclusive security solution to address and prevent stock-related issues. In addition, monitoring of the cash register was also a necessary requirement as was viewing cameras both on and off-site.>

Proposal

Following our briefing, our integration specialists recommended a security system with CCTV cameras installed at different areas of the shop to ensure full perimeter security monitoring. Considering the size of the premises and customer requirements, Australian Security installed the following:

4 x 6MP Wiz Sense Turret Cameras
1 x 8MP Turret Wiz Sense Camera

The 4 x 6MP cameras provide full shop coverage whilst the 1 x 8MP camera ensures high resolution, high framework vision to oversee the cash register. A Network Video Recording device was installed within a miniature data cabinet and monitor visible within the shop (to further act as a deterrent).

Outcome

The objective of the new security system was to reduce stock inventory loss, discourage theft and monitor the premises. Post-installation, the vendor is satisfied with the functionality of the system and reported positive developments in line with the original requirements.
