High-Resolution Imaging: Ensure high-resolution cameras to capture detailed images of construction activities and wildlife movements, ensuring clear visibility and monitoring capabilities.

Thermal Imaging Integration: Incorporate thermal imaging technology into the CCTV surveillance system to detect the presence of penguins during all conditions to ensure their safety without relying solely on utilizing visibility technology of high resolution cameras.

Full Coverage: Provide full coverage of the pier area with strategically placed cameras to monitor construction activities, facilities and surrounding water areas effectively.

Solution:

Australian Security designed and implemented a specialized CCTV surveillance system solution tailored to the unique requirements of the St Kilda Pier Redevelopment project:

High-Resolution Cameras: High-resolution CCTV cameras were strategically placed around the entire pier complex to capture detailed images of construction activities, wildlife habitats,  prospective trespassers and surrounding areas, ensuring clear visibility and live monitoring capabilities.

Thermal Imaging Technology: Thermal imaging cameras were integrated into the same CCTV Surveillance System to detect the presence of penguins during all conditions, ensuring the wellbeing of the penguin colony.

Penguin Monitoring Stations: Dedicated monitoring stations were required to be set up to allow personnel to observe and monitor the penguins in real-time, using a combination of high resolution and thermal imaging cameras.

Remote Monitoring Capability: The CCTV surveillance system was required to be equipped with remote monitoring capabilities, allowing offsite monitoring and access to live feeds of all cameras installed onsite.
